The RTG welcomes Prof. Dr. Alemayehu Gorfe from the University of Texas (Health Science Center at Houston) as a Guest speaker on Wednesday, 20th of September 2017.
Titel: “Dynamics, membrane binding and oligomerization of Ras proteins“
Despite decades of studies and the well-known role of Ras proteins in health and disease, much remains to be learned about how they work at the molecular level. However, considerable progress has been made over the last several years. Molecular simulations have made significant contributions to this progress. My laboratory studies Ras proteins using multi-scale molecular simulations in solution and membrane environments, combined with basic biophysical and cell biological experiments. In this presentation, I will focus on the clinically most relevant Ras isoform, K-Ras, and discuss recent results on its membrane binding and oligomeration as well as druggability.
